This is part 2 of the comic where Tom Nook fights Redd after an arguement, its kinda just to explore Tom and Redd's relationship and the conflict in it. The first few pages of part 2 were a flashback to when they worked together (this is my own interpretation, not canon).

Fact two:
Poppy Playtime never offically confirmed that Catnap's red sleep gas ISN'T explosive when exposed to fire.
Fact three:
Dragons can breathe fire, unless they very specifically cannot.

Conclusion:
Dragoonap can breathe explosions.
