How much of this comic could've been fecked up if they stayed a bit more and read a lot of the mem books... You could've done some freaky sort of "I know how this ends, everyone knows how this ends, but how the HELL do we get there" kinda story. Buuuuuut also, I kinda like the one you made.

Oh, so the respawn thing really is real! And it's always to here. Means you could count this as a rougelike game, each dream a new level, the librarby a safe inbetween with shops and hp fountains, and each try being canon.
